Ronald Joseph “Butch” Rossi, of Baton Rouge, LA, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 81. Butch was born on January 13, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1968. After graduation, he spent his career in the chemical industry with Celanese, Bay City, Texas and URS , Baton Rouge, where he retired in 2010. Butch and Judy joined Comite Baptist Church in 1978, where they worshiped with cherished friends for more than 45 years. His passions included helping people in need and would often go out of his way to reach out with a helping hand. Butch was an avid exercise enthusiast who could be at Foxy’s or Wallbanger’s at any time of the day or night. When he was not exercising, he was traveling across the country with his friends and family. Butch was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Rossi, his mother, Theda Lyons Rossi and his sister Leandra Rossi Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Judith T. Rossi, three sons, Scott Rossi, Greg (Stephanie) Rossi, and Chad (Regan) Rossi, four Grandchildren Katherine, Carson, Alexandra and Isabella Rossi, one sister, Rudee Gomez y Rossi, one brother-in-law Michael (Kathy) Mitchell, one sister-in-law, Diane LaDuke, four nephew/nieces, Aldolfo Gomez, Sissy (Humberto) Gomez y Gallardo, Michelle Mitchell and Mike Mitchell, and Cousins Leslee Liska, April Paquin, Todd and Harold Lyons, and Tonya DuBay . The Rossi family would like to extend a special thanks to Jeri, Ty and Gina for the caregiving, love and attention they gave Butch during his illness and nurse Autumn from Cypress Health. Visitation for Butch will be Saturday April 29, 2023, at Comite Baptist Church, 12250 Greenwell Springs Road, from 10:00 AM until funeral service, officiated by Pastor Chase Permenter, at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial gifts to St Jude or to Comite Baptist Church.
