William Alver “Billy” King, Jr. passed away on April 21, 2023., at the age of 81. He was surrounded by family at his home when he left us to be with the Lord. Billy was a native of Gonzales, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Billy had been employed in the trucking industry since 1963 and was co-owner of New Star Transportation and New Star Freight Service since 1981. He served as a past president of the Baton Rouge Traffic Club, the Louisiana Motor Association (LMTA), and the Transportation Brokers Conference of America (TBCA) (now known as the TIA). He had also been an active member of Graceworks Church in Prairieville, LA for many years. Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Denise Courey King; brother, Kenneth Lionel “Lonnie” King (wife Sandy); sister, Glenda King Purpera Ozbun; children, William Alver “Al or Tunney” King, III (wife Rhonda); Alicia “Lisa” King Davis; Jamie King Richard (husband Greg); and Lindsay Diane King; and grandchildren/wards, Jillian Ruby King; Jayden Alexander King; and Jacobe Aaron Scott; plus nine more grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 29th at Graceworks Church, 16131 Highway 44, Prairieville, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
