Grady W. Jones

Grady Wyatt Jones, aged 79 and a resident of Pine Grove, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2023 at North Oaks hospital in Hammond, Louisiana after a long battle with emphysema. Grady was born on a small rural farm outside of Shuqualak, Mississippi on September 21, 1943 – the sixth of eight children. As a young man, he loved fishing, hunting, and working on trucks. He went on to develop his mechanic skills while proudly serving his country in the United States Army (May 1965 – April 1967) during the Vietnam War. He retired from the automotive industry, after 50 years, as an expert diesel mechanic. He loved his coffee and vintage westerns. Beyond his enduring work ethic, Grady was a family man. He was a loving husband to his wife Mabel (Landreneau) for 45 years. He was a wonderful father to his four children: Tina Nadeau (Robert), Shelley Sepeda (Barry), Jason Odom, and James Jones. Grady was the grandfather of nine (Amber Lizana (Kelly), Kenneth “Bubba” Mason (Megan), Sidney Sepeda, Sarah Sepeda (Justin), River Nadeau (Kayla), Sky Nadeau, Justin Sepeda (Paige), Meghan Odom (Mason), and Landon Odom. He was also great-grandfather to ten: Savannah, Kaylie, Branson, Noah, Leslie, Leah, Raidon, Rayne, Jade, and Ava. He leaves behind two brothers– Ervin and Gilbert Jones, three sisters– Nona Mae, Maime, and Carol (all of whom reside in Mississippi), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Grady was preceded in death by his father Lester Jones, Sr., mother Inez, three brothers: Buddy Jones, Billy Jones, Marvin Jones, and a beloved nephew, Danny Jones. Though we know in our hearts he is with his savior Jesus Christ, and is reunited with those gone before him, Grady… Dad… will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. The family has chosen a private celebration of life, with his ashes to remain with the family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a veteran’s service of your choosing.
