Bette Jean Songy Bertucci, age 76, wife of the late Peter C. Bertucci, Sr. and daughter of the late Myrna Rita Lacoste and Henry Joseph Songy, Jr., passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023. She is preceded in death by her grandparents: Henry Joseph Songy Sr. (Zoot), Louise Irene Walker Songy (Mamma Lou), Louis J. Lacoste (Pappa Lacoste), Josephine Prattini Lacoste (Mamma Phiney); brothers, Robert Henry Songy and William Louis Songy and sister -in-law Mary Songy. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Ann Zuviceh and Bonnie Louise Nicaud; two children, Peter C. Bertucci Jr. and Julie Anne Bertucci; three grandchildren, Peter Marcel Bertucci, Jack David Bertucci and Gabrielle Rose Mobley. Bette was a stay at home Mom and lived to take care of her family and any visitors that were always welcomed in her home. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Bette was a sweet and simple lady, always wanting to take care of others. She had a heart for the stray animals that always seemed to find her. She had a great compassion for children and animals, which will never be forgotten. Bette was also known for her artistic abilities. She enjoyed painting, sketching, and making bread dough ornaments for family and friends and the St. Mark Community in Chalmette. A special thank you goes out to all the families and friends for their love, prayers, and support to Bette and her family. Thank you also to all the healthcare professionals who took care of her and showed tremendous compassion and love to her in her last days. Services for Bette will be held at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel on the beautiful Campus of St. Scholastica in Covington on Saturday October 14. Service time is 10am with a reception to follow on campus.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends of Bette Jean Songy Bertucci who prefer to provide a memorial contribution may do so. The family will use these to honor Bette Jean Songy Bertuccis life with donations to K-LOVE, St. Tammany Humane Society and Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel.
