Betty Pearl Burge Dunlap, born November 19, 1936, passed away during the early morning hours of December 20, 2024, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Betty was born in Arkansas, but was a longtime resident of Walker. She graduated from Walker High School. Betty worked at James Drug Store in Denham Springs where she was employed for close to fifty years.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, John, to whom she was married until his death in 1995. She is also preceded in death by her parents, O.A. and Louise Moore Burge, her older sister Mary, and her husband C.D. Ballard, her older brother James Allen and his wife Emma Jean "Genie" Nettles Burge and her younger brother Billy Burge.
Betty is survived by her daughter Johnna Dunlap Brown and her husband Danny and their children Cade Watson and Maddie Cahill, Cassandra Watson and her sons Braiden and Carson Beuhler and Jessica Causey and her husband Michael, along with their daughters, Macey, Blakeley, and Vera. She is also survived by Johnna's granddaughters Hailey, Katie and Shyanne Blood, and great granddaughter Paisley Sibley.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Dunlap Fohne and her husband Ken along with their daughter Hannah Fohne Jones and her husband Tim and their two sons, Timothy and Luke.
She is also survived by her sister in law, Carol Wagner Burge, as well as a host of other family members and friends.
The family wishes to thank the support team of Heart of Hospice, especially Latoya, Lauren, Leigh and Robyn for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Red Oak Baptist Church, 28760 Red Oak Road, Livingston, Louisiana on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's name to the charity of your choice are preferred.
