Billy Charles Maiden, affectionately known as "Billy Charles," was born on June 8, 1949, in Seattle, Washington, to Louis Bertram Maiden, Jr., and Annie Laura Maiden. The eldest of thirteen children, Billy grew up in a lively and loving home that laid the foundation for his lifelong dedication to family, faith, and music.

 A member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Billy's journey began in Keithville, Louisiana, where he attended Walnut Hill Elementary and High School. In the late 1960s, his passion for music and education led him to Mississippi Valley State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in music education. This was the start of a remarkable career that would leave an indelible mark on the lives of countless students and communities.

 Billy's teaching career began at O'bannon High School in Greenville, Mississippi, before he moved to Lubbock, Texas, to lead the band program at Dunbar High School. His charisma and talent elevated the program, earning him respect and admiration. In the late 1970s, Billy relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana, with his wife, Genell Green, and their three children. There, he continued to inspire young musicians at Booker T. Washington High School and Herndon Magnet School. Always one to lead by example, Billy also chose to serve his country, joining the Army Reserve in the early 1980s.

 Fueled by a passion for learning, Billy earned a graduate degree at Southern University in Baton Rouge, where he met Ida L. Barbier, who later became his second wife. During the 1990s, Billy advanced his teaching career, serving at Northwestern Middle School and Southern University Lab High School before becoming the band director at Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. Alongside his professional roles, Billy pursued his dream of leading a jazz ensemble. The Billy Maiden Quartet, featuring Billy's iconic, three-valve, slide trombone, became a fixture of Baton Rouge's vibrant nightlife, dazzling audiences across the region. 

 Billy was a man of extraordinary talent, from his mastery of music to his gift for vivid storytelling, all brought to life by his vibrant and animated personality. He leaves behind a legacy filled with joy, resilience, and endless inspiration.

 Billy Charles Maiden is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ida L. Maiden; his eldest son, Leonard Bertram Maiden, along with Lenoard's daughters, Samara and Nalah; his daughter, Millicent Maiden Aubrey; and his grandson, Christerpher Avery Maiden, Jr. He is also survived b y his five beloved brothers and six dear sisters. In heaven, he is joyfully reunited with his beloved son, Christerpher Avery Maiden. 

 Billy's memory also lives on through his stepchildren: Lee Barbier and his wife, Adrienne Fontenot, and their daughter, Vivienne; Yolanda Barbier Cook and her daughter, Alexandra Barbier; and aSalvador Barbier and his wife, Monicar Rose, along with their children, ALaia, Salvador, Jr., and Leonardo.

 Billy's life was a symphony of love, service, and passion - a melody that will continue to play in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
