Dale Dewitt, of Prairieville, passed away on 02/21/22, at the age of 74. Dale will be laid to rest on 03/07/22, at the La. National Cemetery in Zachary, La. with a small graveside service at 1pm.Dale served in the US Army & was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 725, the American Legion Post #81 and the VFW. Dale attended LSU & UCLA. He had a master’s degree in Physics & a BS Degree in Science. Dale earned the Distinguished graduate aircraft ARMT Subsystem Mechanic Award & also the Bell Science Award for outstanding advancement in Science. He earned many medals while in the Army, as well.He worked as a Plumber, Nuclear Power Plant Operator, was a Professor at LSU, & also taught Autistic Children. Dale’s hobby was actually learning & researching. He also enjoyed natures animals having a sanctuary on one side of his property and watching them.Dale was born in 1947, to Lasha V. Barton & John O. Dewitt. He had 5 brothers. He is survived by brother’s Charles Dewitt & Edward Dewitt, also numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by caregivers & long-time friends, Sid & Cindy Crater, who helped care for him the last year of his life. His last 3 months, Dale resided at the SE Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve, La.His caregivers would like to thank the staff at the War Veterans Home. Also, a big thank you to Devon of Church Funeral Services in St. Amant for all her help in making Dale’s final arrangements.Dale’s suffering is now over. His spirit is flying free.
