Dan Harp Evans was born on April 12, 1935 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana to the late Vivian Harp Evans and Carnel Edward Evans. He passed away peacefully, holding the hand of his beloved wife Shirley, on Sunday morning January 12, 2024 at their residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Along with his parents Dan is preceded in death by his sons David Harp Evans and Joseph Gillen Evans; step-son Keith Boudreaux; sister Norma Jean Evans; and brother Charles Edward Evans.
Dan was a graduate of the Mer Rouge High School Class of 1952. He attended Louisiana Tech and was a proud graduate of Louisiana State University. Dan was very detailed oriented and used these skills while working in the construction and pipeline field as a land agent, researching and acquiring land rights for projects across the nation. Dan was a loyal Tiger’s fan and he especially enjoyed football and baseball. Together with his wife Shirley, they travelled across the SEC in their RV to both home and away game for many years following the Tigers. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Dan was a faithful member of the Carpenters Chapel United Methodist Church in Prairieville, Louisiana.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Shirley McCrory Evans; step son, Dale Boudreaux and his wife Donna all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two grandsons Andre Boudreaux and Devin Boudreaux and his wife Brittany; five great-grandchildren Brady, Luke, Emmie, Adelaide, and Sadie Boudreaux; sister-in-law, Patricia Evans; and numerous extended family and friends.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Carpenters Chapel United Methodist Church, 41181 LA Hwy 933, Prairieville, Louisiana beginning at 9:00 AM followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at the church with Reverend Ryan McKnight officiating. Committal services and entombment will be at the Hope Haven Cemetery in Prairieville, Louisiana under the direction of Church Funeral Services of St. Amant, Louisiana.
Serving the family as pallbearers are Shelby Robert, Ray Ducote, David LeBlanc, Trent LeBlanc, Charles King, and Robert King. Honorary pallbearers are B.W. Tyson, Jason Stutts, and Justin Stutts.
