Darla Jean Mickelborough

January 22, 1963 — February 11, 2025

Prairieville, LA

On Tuesday evening, February 11, 2025, Darla Jean (Myers) Mickelborough, 62, of Prairieville, moved to her Heavenly home. She had an unwavering love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, and cherished God’s Word and her family. We are certain that Darla, having completed her race and found herself in the presence of the Lord whom she faithfully served, experienced an overwhelming sense of joy. We find peace and joy in knowing that she was greeted with the words of Christ, which we all yearn to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant; enter into the joy of your Lord.” Imagining Darla at Home with Christ makes the thought of heaven all the richer and sweeter.

Darla was born on January 22, 1963, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to James (Jim) Douglas & Barbara Jean (Smith) Myers as the middle of 3 beautiful girls.

The story of Darla & Todd’s family speaks to the love, forgiveness, and redemption offered by our Father, and she and Todd never shied away from sharing their story. Darla and Todd were married on October 7, 1989, and spent their married life in southern Louisiana and Mississippi. Her marriage to Todd brought her three children, Debbie, Justin, and Joel, whom she loved dearly. The word “step” was never used as a description - they were simply family.

Darla was a sweet and simple soul who touched the hearts of many. Even now, people are still touched by her constant love and faith despite her suffering. Her infectious laughter and joyful spirit will never be forgotten.

In death, she has been reunited with her sons, Justin and Joel; two children who were born into the arms of Jesus; her father, Jim Myers; her brother-in-law, Bill Horan; and a host of faithful others who have gone before.

Darla is survived by her husband, Todd; daughter, Debbie Pauler and husband, Justin; daughter-in-love, Kacie Mickelborough; grandchildren, Maeleigh, Madisyn, Charles, Noah, and Andrew; mother, Barbara Myers; sister, Donna Horan; sister, Debbie Myers Spence; parents-in-love, Gene & Linda Mickelborough; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 10:00 - 11:15 a.m. at Gonzales Baptist Temple in Gonzales followed by a service to celebrate her life at 11:15 a.m. The service will be performed by Pastor Gene Gayle.

The family would like to extend a special appreciation to Audubon Hospice who provided care in her final days.

Flowers are welcome. A fund has been set up to help cover the costs of cancer treatments these last few months. Donations can be made at https://gofund.me/2d6a2977
