David Ray Barnes, devoted loving husband and father was born in Monroe, LA and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the age of 81.
He served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Navy and worked for Georgia-Gulf and retired after 30 years.
David is survived by his wife, Clair Napoli Barnes, to whom he was married to for 56 years. He had two loving children and five grandchildren. His daughter, Vickie DeLaughter, and her three children: Ethan, Paige, and Connor DeLaughter. His son, Kevin Barnes, wife Kelly, and their two children: Brayden and Aubrey Barnes. His brother Keith and wife Carolyn, brother-in-law Carl J Napoli, sister-in-law Shirley Barnes, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends including his group known as the “Retired Old Men Eating Out” (ROMEO’s).
The family would like to thank Angelique Cottrell and Hospice of Baton Rouge who lovingly cared for him all the way through the end.
David had a gift of Evangelism, and it was his heart's desire that all would make Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 am at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S Harrells Ferry Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70816., on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
