David Gilmore

David Gilmore embraced a new life in heaven on Sunday, January 3. 2021.

David, affectionately known as “Blue”, was born on July 14, 1944 in Weyanoke, Louisiana, to the union of Mattie Pate Gilmore and William Jessie Gilmore.  He accepted Christ at a young age and rededicated his life to the Lord as an adult.  He retired from Ohmstede Field Services after 24 years of service as a boilermaker.  He continued to work after retirement for three years as a truck driver at Capital Trucking.

David never met a stranger.  Wherever he went, he always ran into someone that he knew.  He was always willing to help his family and friends with odd jobs. He enjoyed barbequing and was frequently on the cooking team at family reunions. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, making frequent trips to Grande Isle.  He loved the outdoors, even if it was just sitting on the front porch for a little sun.

David leaves to cherish his memory, life and legacy, his wife of 30+ years, Pamela Gilmore; daughters, Alice Gilmore, Latrice Ford (Robert Jr.), and Jacquelynn Norton (Nick); sons, William David Gilmore and James Tillman (Courtney), sisters, Mary Bolling (William), Doretha Lemelle (Joseph), Olivia McCrainey, Doloris Palmer (Albert) , Mary Lee Guerin, Shirley Johnson, and Ernestine Gilmore; brothers, Alvester Gilmore (Connie), Levell Gilmore (Bernice), Charlie Gilmore, the Reverend Marshall Gilmore (Theresa) and Nelson Gilmore; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie & William Gilmore, his sister Ida Gilmore and his brothers Jessie Gilmore, Morris Smothers and Jessie Commons, and granddaughter LaKrichia Vincent.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Lanier Baptist Church, 4851 Lanier Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70805 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue at church on Saturday, January 9 at 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow at a later date.
