On Sunday, March 7, 2021, David Ross Stoker, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 81.  David was born on August 3rd, 1940 in Fort Worth, TX to James Rosco Stoker and Emma Devine Stoker. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and then went on to receive a master’s degree in Library of Science from Sam Houston State University.  As a sports and entertainment journalist, David interviewed several prominent celebrities.  He taught elementary school and finally retired as a librarian in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  On August 8th, 1970, he married Asuncion Gonzalez Stoker. They raised two beautiful children, Nancy and Erik.  David had a passion for music, painting, writing, baseball, and especially Jesus.  He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.  David was preceded in death by his father, James, and his mother, Emma. He is survived by his wife Asuncion, his two children, Nancy and Erik, his brother Jimmy Vickery, and several cousins and nieces.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 12th, at Family Worship Center on Bluebonnet Blvd at 3 o’clock p.m.  Flowers and donations can be sent to 8919 World Ministry Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
