Debra "Debbie" Lynn Clouatre, age 66, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 16, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on January 4, 1958, Debbie was a lifelong resident of Louisiana, originating from Metairie and later settling in Gonzales.
Debbie was a beloved figure in her community, known for her strength, caring nature, and unwavering truthfulness. She cherished her role as the matriarch of her family, thriving as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy. Her favorite time of the year was the holiday season, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart. She truly loved having the entire family together every chance she could.
Throughout her life, Debbie touched the hearts of many with her kindness and generosity. She had an incredible ability to make sure everyone around her felt loved and valued. Whether through her warm hospitality, thoughtful gestures, or her infectious laughter. Debbie's wisdom was a guiding light for many, often reminding her loved ones that "Every cloud has a silver lining," reflecting her optimistic outlook on life. Her influence was profound, embodying the proverb, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another," which she demonstrated through her interactions with others.
She attended Grace King High School and spent many years working in the insurance business, contributing significantly to her field. Debbie was also a devoted member of The Church International in Saint Amant, Louisiana, where she served faithfully.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Manuel Clouatre; to whom she was a devoted and loving wife for over 24 years. Their union was one based on the foundation of God, marked by deep love, unwavering support, and mutual respect. Together they shared countless memories and built a beautiful life together. As a mother, Debbie’s love knew no bounds. She was the constant source of guidance, strength, and affection for her four daughters Nicole Barraco, Stephanie Rodgers, Jolynn Usner (Tony), and Crystal DeVillier (Joshua); stepsons Matt Clouatre, Marcus Baker, Manuel Clouatre Jr., and Micah Clouatre; grandchildren Anthony, Arianna, and Andre Garay, Austin and Ashlyn Barraco, Ryan and Raelynn Taylor, Nathan DeVillier, Abbie Clouatre, Alexis, Holland, and Elijah Clouatre, Maddix and Maize Clouatre and Thad Baker; great-grandchildren Eliana Garay, Emerie Nunez, Austin Barraco Jr., and RayLynn Clouatre; and her brother Barry Picou. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents Irvin and Helen "Marie" Picou, and siblings Wayne Picou and Brenda Luke.
A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 13423 la-431 at The Church International in Saint Amant, Louisiana. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember this remarkable woman whose life touched so many. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by the funeral service beginning at 10:30. In honor of Debbie's love for the color red, attendees are encouraged to wear red or black.
Debbie's life was a testament to her loving spirit and her ability to bring out the best in those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of many .
