Dennis Cornell Winters

Dennis Cornell Winters, age 70, of LaPlace, Louisiana passed away on February 22, 2025, at the New Orleans Veterans Affairs Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born March 18, 1954, in Blountstown, Florida.

In 2009, Mr. Winters married Betsy Pittman in Harvey, Louisiana.

 He worked at Upper Management & Realty. He attended and graduated high school at Murphy in Mobile, Alabama and was part of the R.O.T.C. program, which led him to joining the Air Force.

Dennis was a long-term pillar of his community and always helped others in their time of need. He enjoyed spending days fishing and relaxing watching football games. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys and Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He had a kind and giving spirit as he was up to lending a hand to many. He formed numerous friendships throughout the years including his co-workers from Upper Management & Realty and St. Theresa Senior Living Complex.

 He is survived by his wife, Betsy (LaPlace, LA), his children Cassandra Harris (Huntsville, AL), Delforest (Sonya) Winters (Mobile, AL), Charese Winters (Mobile, AL), Cassie (Lionel) Turner (New Braunfels, TX) and Brandon (Tia) Pittman (Geismar, LA).

Dennis is also survived by a sister, Frances Grover (Mobile, AL), and two brothers William Scott (Alexandria, LA) and Alton Winters (Harvey, LA), 14 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Mannie and Pearl Winters, a sister Evelyn Bennett, and two brothers, Willie James Monlyn and Buster Monlyn, and a granddaughter, Aaliyah James.

Dennis will always be remembered by his family and those who knew him well by his favorite phrase “Yes Indeed” and by his strength, warmth, and unwavering devotion. He will be missed and loved by everyone.

 Interment will take place on Friday, March 14th at 11:00 am at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, LA 70460.
