On Thursday, January 2, 2020, Derrick Adam Beck died at the age of 35. Derrick was born November 21, 1984 to Kevin and Rebecca Beck. He was their firstborn son and a gift from Heaven after the loss of their daughter. Derrick was an active and inquisitive child who earned the nickname Digger as his curiosity led him to dig in every drawer he encountered. As Derrick grew, so did his love for others and his desire to serve; He rarely met a stranger and was quick to offer a smile and a helping hand to any in need of assistance. He loved spending time with those he cared about, shopping for clothes, singing loudly to his favorite songs, dancing, dressing to impress, exercising, playing card games, watching football, working hard, eating delicious food and enjoying life to the fullest. Although drug addiction took his life, it was but a minuscule part of the man he truly was. Derrick is best remembered for his genuine, infectious smile and his Christlike service to all he encountered on his earthly journey. Derrick is preceded in death by his son, Cameron Adam Beck; his sister, Candace Nicole Beck; and his grandparents, Rolla and Ruth Sessum, Marilyn Dowden and Morgan Beck. He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Rebecca Beck; his sisters, Hannah Lawson (Jonathan) and Maggie Robinson (Aaron); brother, Alex Beck; grandmother, Reva Beck; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Derrick was a valiant soul who will be missed by all who truly knew him. A memorial service to honor the life of Derrick Adam Beck will be held on Saturday, January 25th at 12:00 in the afternoon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 25367 Riverton Avenue Denham Springs, LA 70726. Lunch will be served following the service.
