A ceremony celebrating the life of Dewitt Effler will be held on Saturday September 2, 2023; visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time at 11:00 am, at River of Life Worship Center Port Vincent. Interment will follow with Military Honors at The Lake Cemetery, Rev. Bobby Ready will officiate the service. Dewitt was born on April 11, 1949, in Wadesboro, LA and departed from this life on Sunday August 27, 2023, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 74 years. He was a member of River of Life Worship Center, retired Boilermaker, and served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid fan of sports, especially football. He is preceded in death by his son William Dewitt “Boogie” Effler, parents Wilburn Effler Sr., Mable Norred Rodriguez, siblings Mable McMaree, Julia Baham, and Albert Rodriguez. Survivors include his devoted wife Theresa Wascom Effler – on September 8, they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary, sisters Dollie Frazier (Albert), and Ella Welch, his mother-in-law Tina Weaver, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his church family.
