Diana Betty Pomerenke Jones

August 2, 1941 — April 13, 2024

Baton Rouge

Diana Betty (Pomerenke) Jones of Longview, TX, passed away on April 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  Diana was born on August 2, 1941, in Riverside, CA.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jerry Don Jones, parents Clarence Rudolph “Sam” and Elsie Elnora (McLean) Pomerenke.  She is survived by her loving children, Colin Mark Jones (Lori) and Laurie Jones Briggs (Dr. George Briggs, dec.), eight grandsons, Jason (Clare) Briggs, Brandon (Mili) Briggs, Ryan Briggs, Paul James, Brett (Kaylee) Jones, and Ethan Jones. Diana loved spending time with her great-grandchildren McKenna, Mia, Ella, Jourdan, Bella, Ivy, and Emmaus.  She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Yolanda) Pomerenke of Escondido, CA and nephews Bill and Steve Pomerenke.

Diana lived adventurously in California and Texas, with the Sierra Nevada hamlet of Twain Harte being her most cherished place to call home.  She was a devoted child of God, and took the responsibilities of motherhood very seriously, waiting to achieve her goal of becoming a registered nurse until her children were grown.  She practiced nursing for many years with compassion and empathy, finishing her career as the parish nurse at her beloved church, First Lutheran of Longview, TX. Her life revolved around her faith in Christ.

Diana enjoyed gardening as well as playing dominoes and Scrabble with family, usually smack-talking and winning with bravado.  She will be sorely missed here but is undoubtably blessed to be in the presence of her lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

In lieu of sending flowers, Diana would be most happy if friends and family planted their own at home.
