Dianne Gafford, 78, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021. She was a kind and generous woman who had a strong faith in God, was devoted to her family and friends, and was always willing to help others. After retiring from state government, she and her wonderful husband of 21 years, Robert Davis Gafford, built and managed small apartments on their property in Central. When Robert died in 2018, she moved to South Baton Rouge to be closer to her older daughter. She loved her new home and neighbors, and loved spending time working in her yard. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Lee Wunstel Long and Cecil Carl Long (a WWII naval veteran), and younger brothers, Gerald Wayne Long and Carroll Dennis Long. She is survived by her two daughters, Wendy Watson Morgan Aymond (Jay) and Tuesday Watson Gray (Darren), six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, sister, Lynn Long Falcon (Claytus), and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery.
