Our hearts are broken to share that our wonderful sister, Dorothy Mae Williams went to join her Heavenly Father on September 28, 2024. Dorothy was born on April 29, 1954, in Watertown, Wisconsin. Dorothy spent the majority of her life living in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the time of her death. She died after a lengthy illness.
She was proceeded in death by our loving parents, Rosina Maranto Williams, and Robert R. Williams. She is survived by two brothers, Robert Lee Williams, his spouse Janet Williams, Joe Williams, and one sister, Mary Jenkins-Thompson, and her spouse Fredric Thompson. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews and one grandnephew. She is also survived by many other relatives including two Aunts, an Uncle, many loving cousins and friends. She was very fortunate to have some very special friends, including lifelong friends Sandy Duke and Pam Crowe. Other very special friends, Diana Williams, Linda Williams, Marcia Maxie, Marie Qualls, Donna Leone and many more friends that have been by her side throughout the years.
Dorothy had the biggest heart. She loved to help anyone in need. She volunteered with the ATT Pioneers that worked with disabled children and enjoyed this immensely. Dorothy loved to laugh and have fun. She had a special laugh that made everyone around her laugh too. Dorothy loved to bake cookies and cakes. For years it was her tradition to bake all her friends and family members homemade goodie baskets for Christmas. She made the best German Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake, and Red Velvet Cake. Everything she baked was made from scratch and had an extra heaping of love added to it!
Dorothy started working for Western Electric when she graduated from high school. Over the years that company changed names many times, but she remained with the company until she retired.
Dorothy was the most amazing sister and best friend. We were truly blessed by God to have her in our lives. She was an amazing aunt to our children. She was more of a second mom to our children than she was an aunt. She never had children of her own, so she just took our children under her wing and treated them as if they were hers. They worshipped and adored her. We will all miss her deeply. We take solace in the knowledge that she will be in Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ and our parents.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated. There will be Mass of Christian Burial on Friday October 11, at 1:00 PM at Most Blessed Catholic at 15615 Jefferson Hwy in Baton Rouge. There will also be another service in Phoenix, AZ at a later date.
In lieu of flowers she requests a donation be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. We appreciate all the prayers, love and support we have received over the last year and a half. May God Bless You All.
