Edward Anthony “Tony” deFrances passed away peacefully at home September 19,2024. Tony was born to Cornelia Waldrup deFrances and A.J. “Tony” deFrances September 14, 1943.
He was a proud Catholic High graduate ’61. And studied agriculture at LSU and Southeastern. He served in the U.S. Army for seven years, after which he began working at deFrances Marble and Tile. He started his own company in 1988.
He will be remembered for his smile, humor, and generous spirit. He never met a stranger. His love of the outdoors and cooking he passed down to his sons.
Besides family dinner in Baton Rouge, he especially enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends at his lake house in AR. Then taking them on pontoon rides to explore the beauty of the lake and watch his sons and their friends jump from the cliffs into the crystal blue water. He loved his family!
Tony is survived by his wife of 45 years Karen Pauley deFrances; two sons, Tyler (Celeste Copeland) and Clayton (Annalise Pullings); granddaughter Ayne; sisters Elaine deFrances Ellis (Randy), Charlotte deFrances; nephew John Ellis (Nancy Lemoine).
Preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Casey Nicole deFrances.
Heartfelt thanks to Audubon Home Health and Hospice. The compassion and care given by every member of the team was exceptional.
