Elizabeth “Liz” Babin Nicholas, resident of Baton Rouge, La., passed away on August 7, 2024, after a battle with cancer in the loving company of her sisters, Evelyn Babin Buquoi and Estelle Babin. Born on January 10, 1955 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania to Clyde Joseph Babin and Dotty Babin Babin, she was 69 years old and the oldest of three children. As a child of a career U.S. Air Force serviceman, she grew up in many different places, including, Delaware, Africa, Oklahoma, Colorado, and St. Amant, Louisiana. After graduating from East Ascension High School in 1973, she pursued a career as a hairdresser by attending Dee-Jay’s Beauty College and graduated in 1974. She worked at Wayne’s Beauty Salon 1974-1979 and owned and operated, Ahead of the Times from 1979-2021 when she retired. “Liz” worked hard and played hard, enjoying painting, sewing, gardening, being the life of the party playing cards with family and friends and going to her favorite casinos. She had a special heart for children of all ages and was “Big Red” to all who loved her.
“Liz” is survived by her husband of 15 years, Rocky Louis Nicholas; a son: Taylor Rey Distefano; a daughter: Brittany Laine Distefano; her two sisters: Estelle Babin (Robert) and Evelyn Babin Buquoi (Larry); a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends of Liz and her family are invited to attend her celebration of life at La’Pavilion Event Center, 14468 Bayou Terrace Drive, St. Amant, La. 70774 on August 24, 2024 at 3:00 pm. Colorful Animal/Jungle attire are recommended for the celebration as a tribute to her colorful personality.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to Dr. Ryan Richard, Dr. Daniel K. LaVie, and the staff and nurses at Clarity Hospice of “The Crossing” for their loving care of “Liz” and her family.
