Ellis Joseph Ernest

Ellis Joseph Ernest passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, in Hammond Louisiana at the age of 81. He was born to the late Zilda Marie Duplessis and the late Oscar Alex Ernest, Sr. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He was a retired machinist from Shell Oil Refinery. He was a Master Mason with membership in Yorkish and Scottish rites.

Ellis is survived by his 3 daughters and son-in-law: Belinda Marie Ernest Caldwell, Dianne Lynn Ernest, Michelle Ann Ernest Reed, husband John Christopher Reed. His 11 grandchildren: Brandy Perrin Williams, husband Frank Williams; Sebastian Candies; Ariel Candies Phillips, husband Eric Phillips; Joshua Ernest; Danielle Vidrine-Crawford, husband Jacob Crawford. Megan Reed; West Reed, wife Taylor Reed. His 7 great-grand children: Haley Oliphant; Braley Williams; Cadence Phillips; Laney Phillips; Aiden Evans; Amelie Jordan; John Reed. Nieces and Nephews: Derrin Ernest, Madison, Timothy, and Aspyn Shatswell; Steven Ernest, Maranda, Alexandra, and Charley Ernest; Thasia Ernest Domiano and Jay Domiano. Sister and Brother-in-law: Glenda Ernest Dufreche and William (Billy) Dufreche. His life long friends: Sherwood and Evelyn Berteau. His Masonic Brothers.

Ellis was proceeded in death by his father Oscar Alex Ernest, Sr. his mother Zilda Marie Duplessis, brother Oscar “Ottie” Ernest Jr, wife Elna Miller Ernest Bowman, sister Barbara Ernest.

Visitation for Family and Friends will be held at the Pine Grove Masonic Lodge, 286 E. Pine Street, Ponchatoula, LA 70454 on Saturday, March 12 from 10-1130AM, followed by a celebration of life ceremony. A private grave-site service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Lodge, Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shrines Hospital, or your charity of choice.
