It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elton Eugene Corley, a cherished soul who went to be with Jesus on January 3, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on November 18, 1941, in Rodessa, Louisiana, Elton lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family, friends, and community. A man of faith, Elton was a devoted member of Sorrento Baptist Church, where he found joy in worship and fellowship. He served his community with passion as a volunteer fireman for the Gonzales Fire Department, a role he cherished deeply. His bond with his fellow firefighters was one of camaraderie and mutual respect, and he truly enjoyed every moment spent in their company. Elton’s life was one of service and hard work. As a younger man, he worked as a mechanic and owned a wrecker service, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and knack for problem-solving. He also served his country with honor as a member of the United States Navy, where he earned an honorable discharge. Known for his infectious humor and kind heart, Elton loved people and had a special gift for making others laugh. He treasured time spent with family and friends, particularly during the holidays. His weekly coffee breaks with his “Coffee Buddies” brought him immense joy, and he held a special gratitude for his dear friend David Lambert, whose steadfast support meant the world to him. Elton is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Cook; father, Jessie Corley; grandparents Ernest and Mina Treadway and Terry Marceaux ; and many other beloved family members, including his dog Tucker, who was his loyal companion. He is survived by the love of his life, Ms. Karen Perek, whose devotion and care for Elton in his later years were a testament to true love. He also leaves behind his children: Jessica Aline Williams (Scott), Elisa Turk, Elton (Gene) Corley Jr. (Trudy), Jessie Joseph (Joe) Corley, and Kenneth (Danny) Corley; as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy. His precious dog, aptly named Precious, remained his faithful companion until the end. Elton held dear the friendships of Tommy and BW Gonzales, who brought light and laughter into his life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial gifts to honor Elton’s legacy of love and service.
