On Friday, February 3, 2023, Francine Pace Shehane passed through heaven’s gate peacefully at age 90 surrounded by her family. She was born July 14, 1932, in Penrose, Arkansas to Dor and Nannie Hedden Pace. Francine grew up in rural Arkansas in a loving, Christian household. Her father worked at the local lumber mill and later owned a small general store. Her mother was a homemaker for her and her 4 sisters. In 1947, Francine married the love of her life, a Navy war veteran, Marion Shehane. Together, they raised 3 sons and a daughter, Ken Shehane of Baton Rouge, the late Steve Shehane of Baton Rouge, Tom Shehane of West Monroe, and Dori Shehane Bezdek of Lutherville, Maryland. Francine was a loving wife and devoted homemaker to her husband and 4 children. She enjoyed traveling and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Later in life, she especially enjoyed her numerous trips all over the country with her travel friends, playing Pokeno and an occasional trip to the coast to play at the casino. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Dor and Nannie Pace, her beloved husband of 52 years, Marion, her 4 sisters, and her son Steve. Francine is survived by her son Ken and his wife Sheryl, her daughter-in-law Darlene Lemoine Shehane, her son Tom, and her daughter Dori and her husband John Bezdek. She had 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren whom she adored: Deanne Shehane Ratliff and husband Rob, Michael Shehane, Shelley Shehane, Lindsey Shehane Short and husband Don, Raleigh Shehane, Matthew Shehane, Clarissa Bezdek, Meredith Bezdek, Elliot Bezdek, Braydon Short and Ford Ratliff, and several great-grand dogs and cats. Francine’s final resting place will be alongside her loving husband Marion at Port Hudson National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, and we ask that friends share their memories, well wishes, and prayers on the following website www.churchfuneralservices.com.
