Frank Turner passed peacefully at his home in Baton Rouge, LA, on January 22, 2018. Services will be held at Healing Place Church Annex, 19202 Highland Rd., Baton Rouge, LA, Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Visitation begins 10:00am with service at 11:00am. Frank was a member of Healing Place Church since its beginning. Frank was born April 6, 1925 in Warren, Arkansas to Benjamin and Hallie Turner. He graduated from Pineland Texas High School in 1942. He was only 17 when he joined the U. S. Navy and served during World War II for four years, until he turned 21. Frank was a Sonorman with harbor defense in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Billie Jean Flory in Shreveport, LA in 1949 and they had 3 children; Harold, Judith and Patricia. He moved to Baton Rouge in 1955. He retired from Univac in 1985 and operated a retail business for 30 years which he sold in 2005. Frank married, Jewel (Julie) Wallace, his second wife, in 1976. Frank was diagnosed with lung cancer in May, 2017 and chose to travel instead of being treated. He was blessed by many people that allowed him to travel to Mt. Rushmore, San Diego, CA and Washington, DC (Honor Flights). Mt. Rushmore-he always wanted to see the mountain and South Dakota. San Diego- he had not been back since he was there for boot camp in 1942 and Washington with 34 other veterans and was honored for serving his country. Frank is preceded in death by his; parents and siblings, wife and two grandsons, Bo Turner and Ben Turner and a great grandson Taylor White. Frank is survived by his three children; Harold (Helen) Turner of Shreveport, LA., Judi Louis of Baton Rouge, LA. and Patti (Dan) Williams of Nikiski, Alaska and a sister-in-law, Jamie Lee Hurst of Kaplan, LA. He also had many nieces and nephews left to mourn him; Carol (Butch) Phillips of Shreveport, LA and Kay (Ronnie) Reynolds of Ringgold, LA., Wanda “Tootie” Halverson, Richmond, TX., and Ramona Turner, Dallas, Texas, Linda (CJ) Paul of Deville, LA, Kathy Perry of Lafayette, LA, Melvin Traylor of Maurice, LA, John Traylor, Robert Hurst and William Hurst. . Great Nephews; Ricky (Peggy) Turner, Houma, LA. Kenny (Karen) Phillips, Shreveport, LA, Brian (Debbie) Houghes of Denham Springs, LA, and great niece, Jennifer Phillips, Shreveport, LA. Frank has seven grandchildren; Sallye (Justin) Corbell of Shreveport, LA, Maggye Winterer of Alexandria, LA, Bobbi Jo (Bubba) Stevens of Denham Springs, LA., Claude (Christie) Couvillion of Helendale, CA., Micah (Lindsey) Turner of Houston, TX., Tristan (Ray) Turner-Barrow, of Baton Rouge, LA and Jacob (Brittany) Williams of Nikiski, Alaska. Frank has nineteen great grandchildren; Alex Martin, Ethan Stansil, Ainsley Stansil, Etta Kate Corbell, Brody Turner, Henry Winterer, William Winterer, Christopher Voth, Trent Stevens, Lauren Couvillion, Madeleine Couvillion, Carly Couvillion and John Couvillion, Kiara Turner, Elise Turner, Marley Turner, Micah Turner, Jr., Javen Turner and Tarae Turner. Our family wants to thank Robert Louis for all the love, help and care that he has provided, without this help Daddy would not have been able to stay at home.
