Greg Jackson passed away at OLOL Hospital on November 21, 2024. Greg was born in Salina, Kansas, on November 4, 1954, but spent most of his life in Baton Rouge, LA.
Greg is survived by the love of his life, Sheila Jackson, his wife of 53 years. Greg and Sheila married at just 16 years old and welcomed their only son, Louis Neil Jackson, that same year.
Greg was the middle child of Ray and Evelyn Jackson Jr. He is survived by his sister Beverly Taylor and predeceased by his brother Mike Jackson. Greg’s cherished family includes his wife Sheila; son Neil; grandchildren Maci, Emily, and Winston Jackson; daughter-in-law Darla Jackson; brother-in-law Tom Taylor; John Odom; Bobby McDonald; and sisters-in-law Tammy Odom, Cindy McDonald, and Audrey Jackson. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Greg was an entrepreneur at heart. At age 30, he came home one day and told Sheila he had just bought a grocery store in Norwood, LA. Together with Sheila, his sister Beverly, and brother-in-law Tom, they began running G & S Grocery for five years. Between the four of them, they turned a struggling store into a thriving business that catered not only to locals but also to hunters and fishermen visiting Norwood.
In 1980, Greg’s dream came true. God opened the door for him to start his own store fixture installation company. This venture allowed Greg and Sheila to travel the United States together, working on various accounts that they believed were blessings from God.
Greg and Sheila remained deeply grateful for everyone who worked with them along the way. G & S Unlimited remained open for 28 years.
Their son, Neil, followed in his father’s entrepreneurial footsteps and eventually opened his own businesses in Baton Rouge, Jackson Store Fixtures and Inspired Closets.
Greg will be forever missed by Sheila, who carries him in her heart. A memorial service will be held at Greg and Sheila’s home at a later date.
