Ida Davis

January 23, 1940 — October 27, 2024

Slaughter, LA

Ida Mae Davis passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on October 27, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on January 23, 1940, Ida Mae was the second daughter of Ferdinand, and Ida Payne. She is survived by her son Jeff Kennedy, and grandchildren Mallory Kennedy, Johnna Howard, and Donald Moriarty, brother Mike Payne, and sisters Holly “Bootsie” Cone, and Winnie Landry. Preceded in death by her husband Marlin C. Davis, son Floyd T. Kennedy Jr., daughter Danielle Kennedy Moriarty, and brothers Ferdinand “Ferdie” Payne Jr., Clyde “Beau” Payne, Tommy Payne, and Jerry L. Payne Sr.

Renowned for her love of sequins, and anything shiny, Ida Mae owned, and operated the popular Bon Marche popcorn shoppe, Karmelkorn, with her husband in Baton Rouge until 2000. Always eager to learn, she then went back to school to become a Louisiana Notary at the age of 60. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed spending her time cheering on the LSU Tigers, shopping, and going out dancing with friends, and family. Known as “Aunt Honeypie” to many, her passion for life, value of loyalty, and love of family will be remembered by all who knew and adored her.

A private family interment for Ida Mae will be held at the Azalea Rest Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana. In lieu of sending flowers, please put on something sparkly, pour a scotch, and have a dance with someone you love in honor of her.

The family also sends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Baton Rouge, and Grace Health & Rehab Center in Slaughter, Louisiana for the outpouring of love, and support received while she was in their care.
