In Loving Memory Of Nalty Lynwood Blackwell Sr., “Pawpaw” “Shorty”
Nalty Lynwood Blackwell Sr., “Pawpaw” “Shorty”, of Baker, LA, entered heaven peacefully on January 3, 2021 at 90 years old.
It wasn’t long before that he was still riding his bike to the mailbox, weed eating, and enjoying playing video games. He loved being outside and watching nature as well as tending to the yard. Because he became widowed when he was 39, he singlehandedly raised his son, Lynn Jr. while building a house for them and working many long hours. He welcomed Tammy, Lynn’s bride, into his home when they were married and he was able to provide a loving home for his two grandchildren, Nalty III and Alexis.
He was a boilermaker by trade and retired as a superintendent after many years of service to Turner Industries. He was a Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. He greatly enjoyed talking about the Bible and watching sermons on TV. He was a devoted believer who stood by his convictions without wavering. He always had a smile on his face and lit up especially when he saw his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to give them candy and make them happy.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maudie Callender Blackwell, daughter in law, Tammy Hoover Blackwell, his parents, John Aaron Blackwell and Nora Estelle Berry, and 9 brothers and sisters who have gone before him— James Clifton Blackwell, Ivy Lucille Watson, Wessie Irene Jordan, Grady Ralph Blackwell, Alma Christine Walls, Annie Ruth Fryer, John Dudley Blackwell, Willie Vee Blackwell, and Felix Eugene Blackwell.
He is survived by his son, Nalty Lynwood Blackwell Jr., his sister Francis Lorraine Adams, grandchildren Nalty Lynwood Blackwell III, wife Jennifer, and Alexis Blackwell Metz, husband Jonathan. He is also survived by his 5 great grandchildren, Kinsley, Kennedy, Jaxson, Lennyn, and Demi.
We are thankful for his great influence and love shown to us all. His simple and humble, yet full life will be a legacy we pray lives on in us.
