Jacque David Gregory

September 15, 1948 — January 21, 2025

Prairieville, LA

Jacque David Gregory, 76, of Prairieville, LA passed peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on January 21, 2025. David was born September 15, 1948, in Jackson, MS to Helen Foster and Jack Garrelick (later changed to Gregory). He attended Louisiana State University where he earned a Master's degree in Social Work.

God saved David for the war on the home front where he spent 39 years working for the Veterans Administration, fighting for the rights and dignity of Vietnam, Korea, and WWII veterans. Through individual counseling and group therapy, David created a space for veterans to heal their wounds. His former patients, now friends, would call for him even years after his retirement in 2013. David married the love of his life, Anne Landry Gregory, in 1970. Their 54-year marriage was a testament to their character, commitment, and faith in God. They were members at both St Jean Vianney and St John the Evangelist where he was active in the Knights of Columbus, the Right to Life March, and Baby Bottles for Life. They enjoyed travelling the world, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. They even tried their hand at Zydeco music with their own two-part band, known only to themselves as “The Zydeco Cha Chas”.

David is survived by his wife, Anne Gregory; their three children, Jamie, Julie, and Emily Gregory; sister, Sherry and Emile Nassar; half-brother, John Correia; brother-in-law, Tom and Monica Landry; sister-in-law, Maureen and Tim Hart; five grandchildren, Madeline and Olivia Branstetter, Ethan and Evangeline Johnson, and Lyla Gregory. David is preceded in death by his father, Jack Garrelick; mother, Helen Foster; brother, Barry Gregory; father-in-law, Henry Landry; mother-in-law, Elbess Landry; nephew, John David Nassar; granddaughter, Ava Branstetter.
