James Darrell Ehlers

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of James Darrell Ehlers will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday October 1, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oakdale, Rosary will be at 10:45 am, interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Elmer.

Darrell was born in Glenmora, LA on August 7, 1933, and rested from this life on Saturday September 21, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

He was a resident of Baton Rouge, he served with the U S Navy 1951 – 1953, graduated in 1954 from SLI (Now ULL), 1959 – 1969, he was owner/operator of Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, Glenmora, LA, from 1970 until his retirement in 1993 he served at storekeeper with CLECO. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Sue Higdon Ehlers, parents Henry William and Inez Edwina Andreis Ehlers and a brother Harold Wayne Ehlers.

Survivors include his son Phillip Henry Ehlers and wife Sujad Norman Ehlers, daughter Eileen Marie Ehlers-Topham and husband Brad Joseph Topham, grandchildren Ryker Gabriel Ehlers and Arden Naiara Ehlers, sister-in-law Terry Higdon Strohm, also survived by a niece and a nephew.
