It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of James Alvin Hood II, at the age of 35, on the 8th of May 2024. Born in Hammond, Louisiana, to John Alvin Hood and the late Cathy A. Singleton Heck, James was a cherished member of the Denham Springs community.
James dedicated his professional life to his role as a Crane Operator at Epic Piping. Away from work, he found solace and happiness in the company of his beloved children and in the solace of his garage, tinkering with cars.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and enduring memories for his father, John Alvin Hood; his brothers, Max Alvin Hood and wife Heather, and Joseph Heck, Jr; his devoted fiancée, Shelly Nicole McDonald; his treasured son, Liam Alvin Fontenot-Hood; his stepchildren, Connor James McDonald and Ava Grace McDonald; his loving maternal grandmother, Viola Singleton; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who were dear to him.
Preceding James in death were his mother, Cathy A. Singleton Heck; his paternal grandparents, James Alvin Hood and Marianne Erthl Hood; his maternal grandfather, Bobby Singleton; and his maternal aunt, Sally Singleton.
A service to commemorate James's life will be held, with details to be provided at a future time. The Hood family entrusts Church Funeral Services and Crematory in St. Amant, Louisiana, with the arrangements.
James's memory will be treasured as a testament to his unwavering commitment to his family, his industrious spirit, and his zest for life's simple pleasures. He will be deeply and enduringly missed.
