James “Jim” Dean Parker

James “Jim” Dean Parker, 86, was born in Burlingame, Kansas in 1934 to parents Lucille and Riley Parker. He graduated from Burlingame High School and went on to study at Kansas University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on two air carriers – the U.S.S. Antietam and the U.S.S. Palau. He worked at the Social Security Payment Center in Kansas City, but moved to Kenner, Louisiana in 1974 to establish the Supplemental Security Income office that served Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas. He was Past Master of Square and Compass and Alpha Home lodges and active in all York Rite Bodies.  Jim was a member of First Christian Church of Greater New Orleans where he served as chairman of the board, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and Elder.  He enjoyed coaching youth sports at Galatas playground, advising the local DeMolay chapter, playing golf, and going to Saints games.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother Robert Parker. He is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Judy Francis Parker, of Kenner, LA; and his sons – Daniel Parker, of Baton Rouge, LA and Steven Parker, of Leavenworth, KS.
