James Don McGovern

James Don McGovern, a resident of Plaquemine, LA, was born on November 13, 1948, and passed away on February 22, 2024, at the age of 75. He leaves the love of his life, Yvette Marie McGovern, in deepest grief. They met in 1969 and married on July 18, 1971.

 Many dearly loved family members survive him and mourn his passing. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his sister Rosa Verneuille her husband Paul Verneuille and their children. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

 Preceded in death by his parents James and Gertrude McGovern, stepfather, grand-parents, and many aunts and uncles.

 Don enjoyed the get-togethers with the husbands of the Lunch Bunch group of friends. He was a fan of LSU and enjoyed his cookouts and family time. He and his wife travelled often and enjoyed the mountains as well as many vacations together. 

 A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Healing Place Church Annex located on Highland Rd. Services will begin at 4 PM and will be followed by fellowship with some light finger foods. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff with Pinnacle Home Health & Hospice especially Ms. Charlie and Ms. Carolyn.
