James Samuel “Sammy” Thacker

James Samuel “Sammy” Thacker was born October 15, 1947 Michie, McNairy County, Tennessee.  Sammy was the 2nd child in a family of 7 children born to Mr. & Mrs. Jessie Wilson Thacker, Sr.  Sammy lost his fight with cancer and left us on February 23, 2021. Sammy was loved deeply by his family and friends and will be missed always. His passing will leave an emptiness in all our hearts that only time, and loving memories can possibly fill. Sammy was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Evelyn Halbert-Thacker: father, Jessie Wilson Thacker, Sr.; aa son, Daniel Allen Thacker; a sister, Valerie Evelyn Thacker-Fillers, and two brother, Jesse Wilson Thacker, Jr. & Davy Eugene Thacker. Sammy is survived by a son, James Samuel Thacker, Jr.; a daughter, Christinea Elaine Thacker-Deello, both of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Bernis Dale Thacker & Victor Nelson Thacker, both of Memphis, TN.; a sister, Karline Franks of Amory, MS.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family has decided to not have any services at this time. Sammy’s wishes were that his ashes be buried alongside his parents at West Shiloh Baptist Church in Stantonville, TN.  Family will be notified as to the date of this event.
