James Octave Williams Jr. "J.O." passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born August 15,1935 in Tangipahoa, LA., and was a resident of Baker, LA. He was a true man in his journey in life. James was born at home, was in the U.S. Army, and was a retired firefighter. He lived a very healthy life and was only in the hospital a total of four times. He loved fishing, camping, and traveling throughout the United States with Hawaii being the only state he never visited. He graduated Kentwood High School in 1954, enlisted in the U.S. Army (2nd armor division) for 3 years, and then went to work at the Baton Rouge fire dept. in 1958 and retired with 30 years service.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Williams, (married March 12, 1958, 66 years), (son) Donald Williams/Juliet of Geismar, LA., (daughter) Debi Jeffers/Bill of Prairieville, LA. (3 grandchildren) Justin Williams/Kristen, Haluk Aras, & Kristal Aras. (5 great grandchildren) Cade Clary, Addison Wolfe, Connor Williams, Camille Merritt, Gabrielle Williams.
Preceded in death by his parents, James Octave Williams Sr. and Suzie Grace Williams, and his brother Samuel Elias Williams.
A celebration of life will be held at Little Prairie Baptist Church on Saturday July 20, 2024. A visitation will take place from 9-11 am and a memorial service will follow.
