Jane Porta Babin

A ceremony celebrating the life of Jane Porta Babin, are pending at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. Mrs. Babin was born on November 2, 1935 in Union, LA and departed from this life on Tuesday August 13, 2019 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center Baton Rouge. Her passion was time spent with her family, going to church and faithfully saying her Rosary every evening before going to bed. She enjoyed bingo, casino trips, flowers, gardening and working in her lawn; even cutting grass. She was an extremely talented painter and enjoyed making pottery in her own kiln. She was an AVID fan of LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. She is preceded in death by her husband Perry Babin; parents Warren and Louise Sarazin Porta; siblings Mary Ellen Dragg, Katherine Terrebonne and Martha Faye Porta. She is survived by her children Jerry Sanchez Jr. (Kelli Livingston), Natalie Hughes (Jimbo), Marla Durbin (Clay), Haney Ambrose (Carla); siblings Doris Cadow, Daniel Porta and Warren Porta Jr., also survived by 8 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and her feline companion “Sue Sue.”

Funeral Mass for Jane will be 11:30 am Thursday August 22, 2019 at St Theresa Avila Catholic Church; wake begins at 10:30 am. Inurnment at Hope Haven Cemetery.
