Jarred Myles Monson, a loving and kind human being, left us on Saturday, December 28th, at the age of 47. He is survived by his sister, Dodie Altazan and husband Rusty, brother Rhett Monson and husband Dan Monson Mitchell, step-mother Margaret Monson, step-siblings Jason Phillips, Brandy Roberts and Dallas Phillips, and girlfriend Christine Shultz. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harvey Monson, mother Sallie Howard and brother, Ross Lewis.
Jarred worked as a cable technician for many years, experiencing life in Dallas, Austin, and Minneapolis, before eventually returning to Baton Rouge. After graduating from Moore Career College with high marks, he excelled as a Master Barber for a decade at premier barbershop, Mercer Supply Co.
He passionately cultivated many hobbies, like biking, tai chi, acrylic painting, wood turning, racing, and boxing, but none as wholeheartedly as music. From a young age, inspired by his father, Jarred was drawn to love music and, at the age of 8, could sit in with his father's band to play drums. He dedicated decades to preserving and promoting the art of vinyl DJing, curating an impressive house, techno, and disco music collection. "Life is full of energy. It's all about joy and inclusion with friends and friendly strangers."
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation honoring Jarred's life at Church at Addis, 6781 LA Highway 1, Addis, Louisiana on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 11AM until NOON. The Memorial Service will begin at NOON. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at www.ILOF.com
