Jewel Jones

September 30, 1947 — June 18, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jewel Shaffett Jones. She departed this world on June 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family, to be reunited with the love of her life, Frank Jones.

Jewel was born on September 30, 1947 in Baptist, LA. Though she resided in various locales over her 76 years, she was always proud to call Denham Springs her “home”. She was a beacon of love, compassion, and unwavering faith, dedicating her life to her family and professing her faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. As a mother, she was devoted and loving, nurturing her children and grandchildren with kindness, wisdom, and an unbreakable bond of love that will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

She is survived by three sons: Mickey (Tenny) Jones, Jack Jones, and Kelly (Beth) Jones; five grandchildren: Gary (Mickie) Jones, Wyatt Jones, Carson Jones, Aubrey Jewel Jones, and Jackson Jones; two great grandchildren: Charlotte Jewel Jones and Carter Jones; and many beloved nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Frank Jones; Mother & Father, Margaret & David Shaffett; Sister, Davine Cerise; Brother, Edward Shaffett; and Grand Daughter, Rachel Jewel Jones.

Jewel had a tremendous love and talent for music as well as writing poetry. She leaves that indelible impression and influence upon her sons and grandchildren. She devoted her entire life to her children, family, and her faith in God. Her memory will stand through the ages.

The family would like to give a special thank you to The Hospice of Baton Rouge and Golden Age Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. The love and care provided to Jewel by their staff in her final days were inspiring, as they allowed her to transition from this life with the dignity and grace that she deserved.

Visitation will be Friday June 21, 2024, 9:00 AM-11:00 AM at New Day Christian Centre (9481 Florida Blvd Walker, LA 70785) followed by Memorial Services and Burial in Salem Cemetery in Walker, LA.
