Jimmie Lucien Veazey

Jimmie Lucien Veazey, 69 passed away February 16, 2023 at 3:20am at the Carpenters House in Baton Rouge with his loving wife right by his side.

Jimmie was born January 14, 1954 to Jimmie and Paula Veazey of Acy Louisiana. In 1973 he joined the United States Navy where he proudly served as a jet mechanic for 10 years and then a cook for another 11 years before retiring on December 31, 1994 with 21 years of service. As much as Jimmie loved his country he also loved fishing and hunting in his spare time. Jimmie was also a great story teller. He loved to tell stories about his time spent with his Grandpa Barney who he loved and cherished dearly. Jimmie met the love of his life after retiring from the service in 1994 and they spent the last 27 years making memories together.

Jimmie is survived by his wife Sherri Steak Veazey, son Joshua Veazey, daughter Amy Veazey Hughes, stepson James Steak, 3 Brothers David Veazey (Susan), Mark Veazey (Rhonda), Andy Veazey, brother in law Jerry Steak (Cindy) and a bonus brother Lloyd Veazey.

Jimmie also leaves behind 5 grandchildren RaeAnne and Nathanael Loupe, Jai, Wesley and Emily Veazey, two great grandchildren Aubrey Holton and Emma Loupe along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. As well as his aunt Iris Pepiak (Chuck).

Jimmie is proceeded in death by his parents Jimmie and Paula Veazey, maternal grandparents Barney and Julia Gaudin, paternal grandparents Andre’ and Eunice Veazey and numerous aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held March 4th from 9am – 11am with services immediately following at New River Baptist Church in St. Amant Louisiana.
