John Bailey

On Monday morning, April 12, John Morris Bailey, 80, peacefully passed away in his sleep after eagerly awaiting his encounter with his Savior, Jesus Christ. He has been reunited in Heaven with his beautiful bride, Carolyn, who preceded him in death almost two years prior to the day. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruby Bailey. He is survived by his 3 children, Cristine Luce and husband Lonnie, Michael Bailey, Amanda Hamburger and husband Chris ; and 6 granddaughters, Kimmie Luce Wingerter and husband Corey, Lauren Luce , Abby Luce , Lilly Bailey, Katelyn Bailey, and Grace Bailey. John was a dedicated husband of 52 years and a loving father.

John Morris, as he was affectionately called by his mother, was born in Kaplan, Louisiana. He attended Kaplan High School and was heavily involved in sports. Throughout his life, some of John’s favorite activities included playing and watching sports, writing, enjoying nature, working in the yard, duck hunting, and eating — especially chocolate! He really, really loved chocolate.

John loved to build things. He built his own home which stands at over 10,000 square feet! He was eccentric and always thought outside of the box when it came to solving problems. He was a private man who honored God and took care of his family above all else. John deeply loved the Lord, read his Bible faithfully every single night, and truly had a servant’s heart. He gave of himself, his talents, his services, and his money graciously to so many in need. John was not a boastful man and he never carried himself in a prideful manner.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service for John will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00am at 5475 Courtyard Dr., Gonzales, LA 70737. A lunch will be held immediately following the service in the home.
