John E. Schackai

John E. Schackai, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 01, 2020 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. A native of New Orleans and a resident of Marrero since 1977, he was the son of the late John August Schackai and Edna Chretien Schackai. Memorial services will be held at a later date. John was retired from Walle Corporation after 43 years of service, a member of the U. S. Navy Reserves for 6 years. His hobbies included reading (especially the Bible), music, movies and collecting knives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Karen R. Schackai; daughters, Elizabeth A. Schackai and Catherine A. Schackai; brother of Carole S. Addison (late Joseph) and Darryl A. Schackai (Tonya); brother-in-laws, Charlie P. Rowley, III and late Richard C.
