John Krennerich, a New Orleans native and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the age of 80. After attending Cor Jeau High School, he served in the U.S. Marines for 6 years and as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for 29 years. Upon retirement, he assumed the daily responsibility of caring for his mother. He was a lifelong Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8147. An avid sports fan, he attended games to root for the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans and the St. Louis Cardinals over the years. He also cheered on Tulane Green Wave and LSU Tigers. He was a beloved brother and uncle and is survived by siblings Catherine Correro (Blaise), Fred Krennerich Jr. and Daniel Krennerich (Merlin Ann); and nieces and nephews, Steven Gilley (Meredith), Fred Krennerich III (Michelle), Michelle Krennerich, Kristen Dalferes (Bo), Christopher Krennerich (Meg), and Michael Krennerich (Kressynda). He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Krennerich Sr. and Rosalie Lillian Duca Krennerich and sister-in-law Marlene Krennerich. The family wants to thank Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, Jefferson Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Prairieville Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance for their care and compassion in his final weeks. Services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA on Friday, May 19, 2023. Visitation at 6:00 pm then followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 7:00pm. A private burial at Lake Lawn Cemetery in Metairie, LA will take place at a later date.
