Joseph "Butch" Ray Rousseau, Jr

Joseph “Butch” Ray Rousseau Jr, age 77, a lifelong resident of Ascension Parish passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on Sunday, September 22, 1946, to the late Azille Picou Rousseau and Joseph Ray Rousseau, Sr.

He worked as a roofer and a security guard until his retirement due to health issues. He enjoyed his time with the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Adria Rousseau and Robert Flanagan, Beatrice and A J Cannon, Joey and Jennifer Rousseau, III and Natasha Rousseau; son-in-law Brett Brown; grandchildren, Stephanie and Alden Caberra, Haley Kramer and Domnick George, Sarah Kramer and Jessica Smith, Nicholas Flanagan, Shawn Roberts and Shainyni Talley, Cheyenne and Shaylee Terry, Amelia and Jordan Vaughn, Carolann Brown, Victor Ray, Katie Wells, Joss Burns, Jayce Wales and Maddie Kinchen; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jane and Roy Templet, Joan Mae Bercergay and Debbie Trabeau; mother-in-law, Rita Gragg.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Rita Rousseau; granddaughter, April Templet; great-granddaughter, Sophia Caberra; brother, Dale Rousseau.

The family would like to express their special thanks to the staff of St Joseph Hospice for everything they did for their father.

Memorial Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Whitehall Cemetery, 22256 LA-22, Maurepas, LA 70449 with Fr. Jason officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations would be made to assist the family with the funeral expenses
