Joseph Thomas Payne

Joseph Thomas Payne, was born on March 5, 1984 in Tucker, Georgia. He passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 38. Joseph had a very loving, outgoing personality. He will be remembered for his big smile, desire to make you laugh, and his willingness to help others. He was a kind, loving husband and took that responsibility seriously. Joe could often be found exploring Louisiana with his dog, Cash, whom he loved very deeply. He was always learning a new hobby – photography, painting, wood working, golfing, writing stories and poems on his typewriter, making short, funny videos for his family and friends, mastering the yo-yo, or going out for a run. Joseph also had an intense love for music. He learned how to play several instruments over the years including the trombone, drums, ukulele, piano, guitar & the harmonica (or at least he really tried). Joseph was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses along with his wife Crystal. He served as a Ministerial Servant and regular pioneer in the Millerville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses here in Baton Rouge. He selflessly preached about the good news of God’s Kingdom and he firmly believed in the Bible’s promise of a resurrection to paradise on Earth in the very near future. He was loved by so many, and his quirky sense of humor and quick wit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Redden Payne and step-son Dylan Redden, of Baton Rouge, LA; Father, Thomas Payne and step-mother, Rhonda Payne, of Baton Rouge, LA; Sister, Brittania Casey, husband Shaun, and their daughter Madalynn Hale, of Buford, GA; Sister, Heather Reis & her husband John, of Greensboro, NC; Sister, Kylie Scott & her husband Jonathan, of Baton Rouge, LA; Brother, Ryan Lowe, and his son Harrison Lowe, of Braselton, GA; Father-in law, Emit Redden, Jr. and mother-in-law Stephen of Baton Rouge, LA; Brother-in-law, Emit C. Redden, his wife Kelley and their son, Ethan, of Houston, TX; Sister-in-law, Chenye Redden, of Baton Rouge, LA.; Grandmother, Helen Payne of Lilburn, GA; Grandmother, JoAnn James of Braselton, GA; along with a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his beloved dog Cash. He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Payne; Grandmother, Barbara Guida; and Grandfathers, Richard Payne and Harold James.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2562 Toulon Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on February 18, 2023 at 3pm.
