“Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.” Juanita Williams Myers, of Gonzales, Louisiana, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, at the age of 96.
Nita was born on January 4, 1929, in Cameron, Texas to Claude and Josephine Williams. Family was the most important part of Nita’s life. She was the heart and soul of her large family, and she will be missed more than words can express.
She married Billy Gene Myers on March 6, 1953 in Brownsville, Texas. They lived briefly in Brownsville, Texas until they moved to Gonzales. Nita was the mother of Mark, Paul, Anna, and John. Nita spent her years as a housewife raising her children, a member of the Gonzales Bowlettes, and the librarian at the First Baptist Church Gonzales library. She also took pride in cooking and hosting a weekly Taco Night on Tuesdays for her children and grandchildren.
Nita is survived by her oldest son, Mark Myers (Sharon), her only daughter, Anna Sagona (Mike), and her daughter-in-law Kimberly Myers. She will be deeply missed by her six grandchildren, Chad Sagona, Kristi (Derrick) Carriere, Stephanie (Patrick) Icenogle, Brad Sagona, Clint (Briana) Myers, and Reed Boudreaux. In addition, Nita had 12 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kaylyn, Paisley, Lake, Jaxton, Rhyse, Dexton, Cayden, Demi, Oliver, Dani, and Vinny.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Josephine Williams; her husband of 70 years, Billy Gene Myers, her two sons- John and Paul Myers, as well as her brother, Claude Williams, and sister, Fannie W. Matthews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Sagona, Chad Sagona, Brad Sagona, Clint Myers, Brayden Carter, and Reed Boudreaux.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church Gonzales, 1217 S Burnside Ave, Gonzales, LA 70737, on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 9:30 AM until a service at 11 AM celebrated by Jarrod Lamberth. Burial will follow at Lusk Cemetary, Weber City Rd, Gonzales, LA 70737.
