Judy Kathleen Nesom died unexpectantly in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 20, 2019 at the age of 76. Judy is survived by her sister Marcelle Nesom DeSoto of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, her nieces Marcelle M. DeSoto and Regina Wilson of Baton Rouge, her nephew J. Andre DeSoto and wife Audrey Zaldumbide DeSoto of Burbank, California, along with her great-nieces and nephews Brittany Rouse and her husband Lee, Trey and Lillian Wilson, and Jules’ DeSoto. She is also survived by her beloved animal companion Kiki the cat. She is preceded in death by her father Marvin B. Nesom; mother, Bernice Price Nesom, and brother Marvin B. Nesom, Jr. Judy was born on April 2, 1943 in Plaquemine, Louisiana to Marvin and Bernice Nesom. She graduated from LSU Medical College in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After joining the Army, she was stationed in Thailand as a nurse during the Vietnam War. Following her service in the army, she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked as a neonatal intensive care nurse. Judy was accomplished at knitting and often crafted blankets and keepsakes for all of her loved ones. She was an animal lover and an avid collector of crystal figurines and also enjoyed playing video games and reading. Her family will remember her as an intelligent, strong-willed, kind, loving, and devoted aunt and sister. A graveside service, with military honors, is scheduled for 12:30pm on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W Mt Pleasant Zachary Rd, Zachary, LA 70791.
