Kandi Denise Sestina

Kandi Denise (Williamson) Sestina, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend peacefully passed away on the evening of December 27, 2024 in her tiny house on the bayou in St. Amant LA. She was 65 years old. 

Kandi was born on December 12, 1959 to Lowrey and Peggy Williamson Sr. in Shreveport LA. She lived most of her life in Louisiana where she met her husband Jeffrey Sestina at their workplace. She moved to Pinson, Alabama married Jeff on February 16, 1996 and they lived their life together. 

Kandi’s favorite color was purple and everyone knew it. She was an LSU fan though she fell in love with an Alabama fan in Jeff. She was a hard worker and enjoyed working with people throughout her careers in trucking industry, as a granite installation business owner, and the pipeline industry. As a single mother of two for many years she worked tirelessly to ensure that her kids needs were met. After her children grew older and had their own families, she transitioned into a dedicated Nana to her grand babies. 

Kandi is preceded in death by her spouse, Jeffrey Sestina, her parents, Lowrey and Peggy (Williams) Williamson Sr. She is survived by her children, Brandi (Lonnie) Fisher and Nicholas (Skye) Chevalier, along with her stepson Kyle Sestina; and her grandchildren Reese, Cullen, Serenity, and Bryce. She is also survived by her brothers Ken (Betty) Higdon and Lowrey Jay (Susan) Williamson, lots of cousins, and nieces and nephews. Her beloved weenie dog Zeus will live with her grandson Cullen in her absence. 

A very special thank you to all the care and compassion received by Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center staff to include Dr Victor Lin, Dr Patrick Bonnecaze, Dr Kovtun, and all the infusion, radiology, office, and lab staff. Your kindness and support for cancer patients doesn’t go unnoticed. Also a special thanks to some of the best caregivers Mrs. Rita and Jessica for your care and love of our mother when we needed the most support. You two are angels on this earth! 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time to be determined.
