Kathleen Emma Roux

August 27, 1949 — March 26, 2025

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Kathleen Emma Roux of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away the morning of Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, at the age of 75.

Kathleen was born on August 27th, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she spent most of her life.

Everyone knew when Kathleen entered a room, and that’s exactly how she liked it. She never entered quietly without a vibrant greeting, and she never slipped out the back without saying goodbye. Kathleen was bold, bright, and unwavering. Day in and day out, as years passed and hardships came and went, her sparkle never dulled. No matter when or why, if you knocked on her door, she would instantly make you feel like there was no one on the planet she would rather see.

A renowned author famously claimed that we should, “never admire quietly;” and Kathleen certainly lived by that philosophy. If she thought you looked pretty or handsome, she’d tell you that you outshined the movie stars. If she found her chicken tenders at Chili’s particularly delicious (and she always did!), she would request to have her compliments sent to the chef. If the nightly news anchor had on a pink blazer she was especially fond of, she would call the news station (and call, and call, and call!) to make sure her compliment was shared.

While there are so many things we will miss about Kathleen, I think her sincere admiration of life, people, and the little things tops the list. She never just liked anything; she loved, and shared that love with the world. Whether it be chocolate milkshakes, the color pink, you, or me; she loved loudly and deeply, and that is something I hope we can all try to do a little more of in her memory. She was truly one of a kind and will be missed by so many.

In 2005, Kathleen lost everything to Hurricane Katrina and evacuated to Baton Rouge, where her niece, Stephanie Hadden, took her in. Stephanie and her family maintained a close relationship with Kathleen through her final days and will always treasure the time they spent together. Kathleen is also survived by her brothers Buddy, Danny, and Johnny Lincoln; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Additionally, she leaves behind Joyce, her caregiver and friend.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Cecile and Albert Lincoln, as well as her sisters Dolores Lincoln Jenkins and Cecile Lincoln.

Kathleen will be laid to rest at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, Louisiana, alongside her parents. A private celebration of life gathering will be held for close friends and family in the coming days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to express their sympathy consider making a donation to The Arc of Baton Rouge, a nonprofit organization which Kathleen benefited greatly from. To donate, please visit: https://thearcbr.org/donate-sponsor.
