Kenneth J. Raye Sr.

Kenneth J. Raye Sr., age 76, passed away July 19th 2023. Kenneth, better known to most as Kenny, was married to his wife Kathryn for 52 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and cowboy through and through. Kenny was born in Baton Rouge, La. As a child, he received his first pair of cowboy boots and his dreams of being a cowboy began.  With the guiding hand of his brother-in-law, Doug Lowrey, he became a bull rider at the young age of 14. As a teen, he won multiple championships including the 1965 All Around High School Rodeo Champion. In 1966 he proudly entered into the U.S. Army. Shortly after his Honorable Discharge, he met and married Kathy. While raising their two children, in true cowboy fashion, he broke and trained horses. As the years passed, he turned his focus from training horses to producing rodeos and started Kenny Raye Rodeo Productions. Kenny is a proud retiree of the Local Union 198 and is survived by his son, Ken Jr. (Jessica); daughter Kay; granddaughters, Krystal and Kathryn Raye, BriAnna McRae; grandsons, Levi and Jesse Raye; sister, Bonny Jo Anthony; and brother, Charles Raye. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Clark Raye; parents, Ned and Mitzi Falgoust; and his sister, Gaynell Platt. Family and Friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Rd. Baton Rouge, La. From 9-11am on Tuesday, July 25th with Mass of Christian burial at 11am. There will be a rosary at 10am. The burial will take place at 1pm at the Louisiana National Cemetery 303 W. Pleasant Rd. Zachary, La 70791. Please join the family for a celebration of life reception to honor both Kenny and Kathy Raye at St. Isidore Catholic Church, following the burial at 2pm. in the Isidore Center.  Attendees are asked to bring a dish and a story to share.
