Lawrence "Larry" Miles Rowland, Jr., age 60, of Prairieville, LA, passed away on February 7, 2025, at the Baton Rouge General Butterfly Wing in Baton Rouge, LA. For the past several months, he has been a resident of River Oaks Nursing Home.
Larry was born on August 4, 1964, in El Dorado, AR, to Lawrence Rowland, Sr. and Glenna Rowland. He was preceded in death by his father, a proud U.S. Navy veteran, and his beloved son, Skylar Rowland.
Larry is survived by his two children, Shelby Rowland of South Dakota and Joshua Rowland of the U.S. Army; his mother, Glenna Rowland; and his two sisters, Cherie Rickard and brother-n-law Wendell of Cape Coral, FL, and Carla Martin and brother-n-law Craig of Hammond, LA.
Throughout his life, Larry had a passion for sports, particularly baseball, and was a loyal LSU football fan. Professionally, he worked as a painter and was known for his exceptional artistry.
Larry was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and attended Healing Place Church. He always wore his "Seek First" bracelet inscribed with Matthew 6:33, a constant reminder of his commitment to put God first in everything.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the dedicated nurses at River oak Nursing Home—Ms. Beatrice and The Hospice of Baton Rouge, Marcy and Kat—who took exceptional care of Larry during his time there. Their compassion and support are deeply appreciated.
A private family gathering will be held at the Church Funeral Service in Saint Amant, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or the Butterfly Wing at Baton Rouge General Mid-City Campus, 3600 Florida Blvd.
